I’m still surprised that Barnes & Noble continues to carry so many toys, but it was nice to see some 2016 LEGO sets on the shelves already.

Hey there just found your blog and was wondering if you could help.
I’m from the UK and we are heading to New York in 3 weeks and want to stock up on Lego.
I heard the Lego stores sell above the normal prices but will still pop in anyway so what other options are there that don’t Mark up the lego(want to save as much as possible ☺)

In Manhattan, yes, the LEGO Store has a slight markup on prices. It’s not that extreme though. When Toys R Us had a store in Times Square and FAO Schwartz was still open, those places had HUGE markups.
Feasibly, you could take a side trip out to New Jersey. I think the Palisades LEGO Store and the Elizabeth LEGO store are the most easily accessible from NYC, plus there are Targets and Wal-Marts to check out.
Unless you are a huge buyer — buying dozens of sets that are hard to find in your local area, it likely wouldn’t be worth it though. the LEGO Flatiron and Rock Center stores are really lovely and well stocked. Yes, you will pay a bit more for sets, but it’s not that extreme. Plus, you get the VIP points.
